UCAR manages the NationalCenter for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) on behalf of the National ScienceFoundation and the university community.What You Will Do:In conjunction with the department Manager, the Assistant Manager isresponsible for the operation of three UCAR cafes, and their associatedcatering functions, including but not limited to: financial performance,quality, cost effective procurement, policy development,interpretation, and application, productivity based operationalscheduling, conference and catering planning, and employee relations.Responsibilities:Establishes and negotiates cost effective procurement of goods and servicesfor UCAR cafes and catering operations ensuring the best quality at the bestprice point. Builds and maintains prosperous and productive relationships withvendors and service providers. Actively monitors product price points andavailability, leverages buying power, reviews invoices for accuracy,resolves disputes with service providers, and promptly processes invoicesfor payment. Works closely with the Catering Coordinators, ChefSupervisors, and Banquet Captains to make sure products and services arebeing used to their maximum and most profitable potential, while minimizingwaste and eliminating unnecessary expenditures.Creates and implements cost effective, exciting, and efficient menuplanning for cafes and catering. Collaborates with the Catering Coordinatorsand Chef Supervisors, to design menus that generate productive use oflabor, facilitate synergy in both the planning and execution phases, andare exciting and appealing to our customers, while maximizing net revenues.Establishes all cafe and catering prices to levels that ensure profitabilitywhile maintaining affordability for customers. Designs and executes excitingand cost effective catering contracts for client and Banquet Event Orders(BEOs) for Event Services Operations, using Event Services catering software.Proactively monitors UCAR's room reservation system for internal meetings,conferences, and events at UCAR/NCAR's Boulder campuses. Independentlyanticipates, responds to and determines the needs of each internal event(catering, room configuration, transportation, security etc.) andfacilitates through expert execution. Effectively and accurately,communicate requests to the appropriate service provider(s) and follow upwith client(s). Qualifies all potential external events to verifyeligibility for facility use and ensure all requirements are met usingparameters of UCAR's facility use policy. Ensures necessary qualifyingdocuments are in order and current.
