Job Summary:

Be part of a hard-working, fun, rewarding Team! Exciting opportunity for an outdoor, Full-time, Seasonal, skiing position. Due to the nature of work, snowboarding is difficult. This great individual will help provide the highest level of operations for winter events. Seeking active, personable individual, who has a strong work ethic, loves being outdoors, with 3-5+ years of actual snow sport competition, event production or ski industry jobs. Candidate has great knowledge of "A" and "B" Net protection systems, timing systems (Alge preferred), scaffolding, power tools, snowmobiles, etc. Opportunity involves pre-event preparation work, event operations, construction and disassembly. Candidate will help implement major event development, production and maintenance with the goal of providing world-class training and competition. Events include US Ski Team Speed Venue construction and operation for World Cup athletes, high volume Oct.-Nov. Team training, NORAMS, Grand Prix Big Air/Halfpipe, FIS Alpine, Rev Tour, USASA Nationals, Special Olympics, SIA, RMS and others. USSA and/or USASA Officials certifications for events are necessary. We support continued education. Certificate in First Aid preferred.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Add value to the Copper Mountain front-line team, the Competition Department and resort partners by being enthusiastically engaged from start to finish. Functions as an ambassador of Copper Mountain, modeling and sharing the Copper "culture" with our guests and employees. Upholds the most professional image. Continually strives to exceed our guest's expectations and create memories for our guests and staff.
  • Previous experience and knowledge from constructing and working alpine, snowboard and freestyle events.
  • Ability to create outstanding guest experiences during all event operations
  • During events, focus on ensuring safety, the venue, snow, maintenance, etc. are at the highest of standards.
  • Ability to construct event safety systems with extensive knowledge of "A" and "B" Net and other protection systems.
  • Experience with constructing scaffolding, communications systems, tents, and other event infrastructure. Understand and operate power equipment, timing software (Alge preferred), communication lines, NASTAR, etc.
  • Safely operate snowmobiles, other equipment and adhere to all company polies around their use. Has the highest integrity when handling cash, etc.
  • Take care of all equipment and maintain it as if it was your own.
  • Ability to take direction from Supervisor or Foreman on projects.
  • Ensure prompt daily attendance when scheduled.
  • Ability to work long hours, most of it spent outdoors in a high alpine environment.
  • Be a role model for new & returning employees on various duties and be a positive, constructive example to others.
  • Be forward thinking, efficient, punctual and follow the plan when involved in operations. Ensure our team is creating the best event possible.
  • Maintain a professional profile with event officials, employees and competition guests. Handle all inquiries and complaints in a professional and competent manner with a solution based approach.
  • Demonstrate problem solving with a professional demeanor when under pressure and tension arise.
  • Cooperates with other departments and understands their needs and concerns. Accept any special duties assigned by Supervisors, Foreman or Manager, that may include other departments. Be a Copper Mountain Team player.

Risk Management:

  • Follow all Corporate and Department SOP's. View the work environment in a way to ensure the safety of our staff and competition guests. Completely know and follow company rules and procedures.

Basic Requirements:

  • Strong skiing skills with the ability to lift and ski with an excess of 50 lbs.
  • Must have the ability to work in extreme winter weather condition for 8+ hours. Environment is at 10,000' -- 13,000'.
  • Must be able to ski all terrain and locations on the mountain.
  • Capable of basic computer skills with use of Word, Excel, etc.
  • Snowmobile and power equipment operations helpful.

Preferred Experience & Skills:

  • College education preferred.
  • Candidates will have 3-5+ years of experience in the competitive snow sports industry or working winter events.
  • Current upper level Officials certifications with one USSA or USASA (or equivalent) in Referee, Timing and Calculations, COC, COR, RA, judging, etc., along with Safe Sport. Department supports continued education.
  • Experience in a leadership role with employees.
  • Expects and produces quality work and has creative, positive ideas and suggestions for the department.
  • Backgrounds in Alpine ski racing, big mountain free skiing, PSIA, HP, Freestyle, or Slopestyle preferred.
  • Supports Manager/Supervisors/Foreman with goals and objectives.
  • Due to our dynamic environment, candidates must be open-minded and ready to learn new skills.
  • In addition, upon hiring, Competition Crew staff will begin to attend applicable training if required.
