Employee Category Faculty-CAT I Department School of Hospitality EClass Code Full Time Faculty-10 mo with benes Position SummaryThis is a full-time tenure track position in the School of Hospitality with afocus on quality teaching, advising, scholarship and service. Thisposition is responsible for cultivating a learning environment forindustry-bound students, as well as those students who wish to pursuegraduate studies. Additionally, interaction with members of the professionalcommunity through ongoing liaison and participation in local and nationalchapters of major event and meeting professional associations, will be anongoing responsibility.This position is anticipated to start in the Fall of 2021.The University is particularly interested in applicants who have experienceworking with students from diverse backgrounds and a demonstrated commitmentto improving access to higher education for under-represented groups. Duties/ResponsibilitiesThis position requires teaching courses in the required curriculum for the BSin Eventand Meeting Management degree, which include, but are not limited to,Event Planning for the Professional, Event Project Planning, EventCatering Systems, Conventions and Trade Shows, Special Event Production,Event and Meeting Contracting, Corporate Meetings, Global Meetings andEvents, Event Support Systems (utilization of current meeting and eventtechnology), Advanced Planning and Risk Management. The successfulcandidate will teach 12 credit hours per semester (Fall and Spring),which may include teaching synchronous, evening, and/or online classes.Summer classes are optional with additional compensation. The instructor willcombine classroom learning with experiential learning, and will effectivelyintegrate technology (internet, social media, and teaching online)into course work, applied research, and advising. The instructor willadvise at the undergraduate level, actively serve as faculty advisor to astudent organization, provide service to the university and community, andfulfill other assigned duties as requested by the Department Chair or Dean.The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and fosteringrelationships with meeting, event and hospitality sectors of the economy. Itis expected that these relationships will lead to professional opportunitiesfor students as well as research outlets for School of Hospitality faculty.The successful candidate must be student-oriented and possess strongleadership skills conducive to building premier undergraduate and graduateprograms within the School of Hospitality. Required QualificationsTerminal degree, or ABD at time of appointment, in Event and MeetingManagement, Hotel Management, Hospitality Leadership, or otherhospitality-related discipline.Minimum 3 years professional experience in the hospitality industry.
