Assists cooks to produce food items from preprinted menus using standardized recipes and methods to maintain high food quality and nutritional standards.
Consult daily prep list and identify priorities for each day regarding stations you will be working daily.
Monitor and restock service areas by assuring food product availability.
Garnish foods in an attractive manner.
Communicate daily before each meal with servers on portion sizes and check frequently to comply with standards.
Station set up on time and be ready to work at station when opening shift.
Responsible for the daily cleaning and closing of station.
Monitor and maintain sanitary and safe working conditions by implementing safe food handling practices.
Maintain food temperatures for all food items.
Keep clutter from accumulating in the service areas.
Clean and sanitize all production and service areas, including machinery/equipment, according to sanitation guidelines and schedules.
Monitor service area equipment and let managers know if there are any problems.
Perform internal safety/sanitation inspections.
Become Serv Safe certified and practice the objectives daily.
Light and heavy cleaning are required throughout the year.
Monitor and maintain production records for the meal in service areas.
Bring inaccurate recipes to the attention of the Unit Chef.
Utilize the FIFO system on a daily basis.
Maintaining progressive cooking techniques.
Maintain accurate counts of food quantities and waste quantities.
Practice AA/EO policies and reports deficiencies to supervisor.
Provide leadership & training to Dining Service I's, .83's, .42's and student employees.
Be an example of culinary professionalism by following the "Culinary Code", showing respect for all positions in the work environment.
Demonstrate culinary professionalism by demonstrating knowledge using the Culinary Training objective list.
Participate with an extra cleaning duty daily from the cleaning list and have it checked off and signed by a lead cook of the day.
Establish and nurture a positive relationship with customers.
Perform assigned tasks promptly and efficiently and be courteous and impartial in dealing with those we serve.
Courtesy, tact and helpfulness on your part will do much to create a positive image.
Customer service must be of the utmost importance in front of the house behavior.
Maintain a professional appearance with proper attention to uniform and related requirements stated in the dress code.
Extensive cleaning of kitchen equipment and facility are required periodically throughout the year.
Shadow lead cooks for 40 hours per year.
Other duties as assigned.

One year of experience in an occupational field related to the work assigned to the position.
