Bike Trail building savants wanted! Help needed maintaining and constructing existing and new trails on the Steamboat Ski & Resort, Co. this summer! Previous experience preferred.

Detailed job description, including responsibilities, work performed, tools or equipment used, etc.:

  • The primary purpose of this job is to construct new and maintain existing mountain bike and other trails on the mountain while following guidelines and best practices

  • This job will involve the use of shovels, rakes, chainsaws, and other common power and non-power tools related to trail work

  • This team is responsible for upholding the highest quality trail product possible while understanding their trail work is a reflection of themselves as trail builders and the Steamboat Bike Park as a whole

  • Must meet and exceed departmental key expectations

  • Compliance with all company policies and procedures as well as any regulatory requirements

  • As part of the Bike Park Department, this position may require work duties outside of normal trail work such as assisting with events, patrol, bike school and other duties as assigned

Minimum skills, experience, education and ability required for this job:

  • High school diploma or GED

  • Previous bike park construction and maintenance experience preferred

  • Must adhere to company safety policies and maintain a safe environment for both guests and employee at all times

  • First-Aid/CPR required

  • Rough carpentry skills for building and maintaining wooden structures required

  • Strong work ethic to handle strenuous work, 40 hours a week

  • Must be a team player and understand feature design is determined by the group, not the individual.

  • Must handle multi-tasking and bring these tasks to completion quickly, accurately, and within the timelines given

  • Interact and maintain positive relationships with guests, co-workers and management consistent with Steamboat Ski & Resort Corp. Service Excellence standards

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age

  • Work outdoors on uneven often rugged terrain and in inclement weather

  • Lift and/or carry equipment and materials weighing 60 or more pounds

  • Safely operate a chainsaw, brush cutter, other small tools

  • Expert mountain bike riding required with an intimate understanding of how trail design relates to the rider

  • Must have a strong passion for moving wood, earth, and stone in the pursuit of two wheel flow

  • Operate company vehicles/ATVs – Must be able to pass company insurability standards

Miscellaneous information:

  • This is an hourly non-exempt position and is subject to overtime pay

  • This position is required to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed

  • Pursuant to county and/or state orders and company policies, every employee is required to self-monitor for COVID-19 symptoms, practice social distancing, wash hands frequently, wear a mask per current guidelines, self-report and call in immediately and stay home if sick and assist with sanitizing and disinfecting work areas. Employees must follow all resort mitigation plans and protocols, which can be found posted on resort buildings and on Beekeeper

The base hourly pay range below represents the low and high end of the Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation hourly pay range for this position. Actual pay will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to experience, education, training, location, merit system, quantity or quality of production, responsibilities, and regular and/or necessary travel. The range listed is just one component of Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term and long-term incentives and many region-specific benefits.

Steamboat area base hourly pay rate: $13.50 per hour
