If teaching is your thing and biking is your game, this is the job for you! Teach Mountain Bike lessons on the trails of the Steamboat Ski & Resort, Co., while patrolling and maintaining signage throughout the day. Will also be expected to assist guests and Patrol Team. Mountain bike riding experience and a valid CPR a must.
Detailed job description, including responsibilities, work performed, tools or equipment used, etc.:
Primary job duty is to instruct Mountain Biking lessons – while providing a safe, consistent, and memorable lesson experience to guests
Patrol, monitor, and maintain downhill trails and signage while enforcing ticketing as well as safety rules
Maintain first-aid supply bags and administer first-aid at appropriate level of training, documenting incidents that require first-aid
Provide information and assistance to the guest
Attendance mandatory at designated meeting times on days scheduled to work
Assist with transportation of guests via ATV, van or truck
Assist Patrollers with Patrol operations, basic first response within level of training
Trail maintenance as required on a daily, weekly and monthly basis. Experience using shovels, saws, hammers, and other common trail work and construction tools preferred.
Compliance with all company policies and procedures as well as any regulatory requirements
Additional duties as assigned
Minimum skills, experience, and education required for this job:
High school education or GED strongly preferred
Sports instruction/coaching/guiding experience strongly preferred
Instructor certification required or must be willing to obtain (PMBIA, Terramethod IDP, IMPBA’s ICP, or other accredited program)
Wilderness First Responder & Outdoor Emergency Care preferred
Valid CPR card and basic first-aid (8 hour course) required
Adhere to all Safety policies
Interact and maintain positive relationships with guests, co-workers and management consistent with Steamboat Ski & Resort Corp Service Excellence standards
Physical Requirements:
Must be a minimum of 18 years of age
Must lift approximately 50 pounds, (O2 bottles, injured guests)
Must stand and ride a bike for long periods of time
Work outdoors, in a variety of weather conditions, including extreme mountain weather
Read and write in the English language, Spanish is a plus
Must have a valid driver’s license and meet insurability standards
Must ride a downhill mountain bike at a high level of proficiency
Miscellaneous information:
This is an hourly paid position subject to overtime pay
Work bikes are NOT provided – you must be able to provide your own mountain bike
Pay incentives available for those candidates possessing certifications in both the medical and instructional arenas

The base hourly pay range below represents the low and high end of the Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation hourly pay range for this position. Actual pay will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to experience, education, training, location, merit system, quantity or quality of production, responsibilities, and regular and/or necessary travel. The range listed is just one component of Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term and long-term incentives and many region-specific benefits.
Steamboat area base hourly pay range: $12.50 - $18.00 per hour
